ABSTRACT

The wine sector has become increasingly important in recent decades, both in Spain and particularly in Castilla y Leon. Not only because of the quantity and quality of its production, but also because of its international projection, as well as its repercussions in areas such as culture, tourism and the environment. The aim of this paper is to analyse the evolution of the sector in Castilla y Leon in the period 2010-2020, adopting an economic-financial perspective. To this end, after a strategic analysis of the sector, the financial position of a sample of 29 companies in Castilla y Leon is studied in terms of liquidity, solvency and profitability, among others. The analysis allows us to conclude that wine companies have experienced sustained growth over the last decade accompanied by a decrease in financial risk, which places them in an ideal position for the future. Finally, the sector is satisfactorily overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.

ABSTRACT

The article has the general objective of analyzing the results of the Prior, Free and Informed Consultation carried out within the framework of the 2020-2021 electoral process in Nuevo Leon for the implementation of affirmative actions. The specific objectives are constructed from the variables 1) Degree of participation and 2) Quality of the decision taken, which in turn are made up of a series of indicators presented in this writing. The study is carried out from a qualitative approach that starts from the ethnographic work of the research team that was present during the consultation process in a virtual modality due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the review of documents of the binding agreements resulting from this consultation. Subsequently, the State Electoral Commission was requested, through the INFOMEX-NL Transparency Platform, information related to the points discussed during the consultation with respect to the candidacies of indigenous people who participated in the election day. It is concluded that the quality of the decision taken during the consultation leads to a bifurcation of results oriented merely to the implementation of affirmative actions, obtaining satisfactory results. And another that was based on a series of recommendations made to the Legislative and Executive authorities in the framework of the consultation and that were closely linked to the recognition of the rights of indigenous communities in the entity, of which no response has been consolidated.

ABSTRACT

Background: Telephone consultation has emerged as an alternative method for outpatient medical follow-up during the COVID-19 pandemic, reinforcing the necessary distancing measures. However, there are multiple factors that the medical team must contend with, which could limit the monitoring of patients. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the remote medical consultation database of a universitybased oncology referral center in northeast Mexico. The telephone calls were made from the medical center by specialized health personnel. The data obtained correspond to the monitoring conducted over six months. Results: We included 1,140 patients in the analysis, of which 79% were women and 21% were men;the median age was 55 years. All individuals had a pathology-confirmed diagnosis of cancer. The main oncological diagnoses were breast, cervix, and prostate cancer which corresponded to 46, 13, and 7% of the cases, respectively. Ninety-four percent of cases corresponded to cancer surveillance, while the remaining 6% were receiving active oncological treatment, administered orally. Ninety-three percent of the patients were from the city of Monterrey and its metropolitan area, 6% came from the rest of the municipalities of the state of Nuevo Leon, and 1% were from other states of the Mexican Republic. Ninety-eight percent of the patients had a public health insurance as a method of coverage for health services, while 2% received care through private health insurance. At remote follow-up, only 53% of the patients responded to the telephone calls, none of them reported a diagnosis or any symptom of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Among the 536 patients who had a telephone communication failure, 68% did not respond to the call after 4 attempts, while in 32% of these cases the number provided by the patient was incorrect or non-existent. Conclusions: The high rates of failure to establish telephone communication documented in our population of patients with cancer is a worrying phenomenon. As the COVID-19 pandemic progresses worldwide, we must seek to establish measures to optimize logistics for more effective remote communication, to achieve the best possible outcomes.

ABSTRACT

The Degree in Library Science and Documentation of the University of León started during the 1990–1991 academic year. This first curriculum suffered from a strong presence of subjects from the humanities, with a low fraction of experimental work in many subjects because of its inclusion within the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. The first years attracted large numbers of students. However, the subsequent decrease in the number of students pursuing the degree drove us to initiate a change toward blended and online modalities. The Librarianship and Documentation Area of the University of León (ULe) already has a long history in blended teaching, starting with the Degree in Librarianship and Documentation, which has used the platform aul@unileon since the 2006–2007 academic year;the Degree of Information and Documentation has used the blended modality since the 2010–2011 academic year, and it has been offered in the distance learning modality since the 2014–2015 academic year. These new technologies have been fully introduced into university education and have facilitated the teaching–learning process through the use of interactive programs via the Internet. The main objective of this column is to determine and study the kind of multimedia tools used by professors of the Bachelor of Information and Documentation at the University of León during the teaching–learning process and in virtual teaching before the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to report which new tools were introduced by the university for this reason. We study the student–teacher and student–student interactions to help promote communication and participatory learning through chats, forums, email, hangouts, Skype, Meet, videoconferences, etc. To carry out this study, two types of methodology were applied: satisfaction surveys implemented by the Quality Office of the ULe to determine the degree of satisfaction of students and teachers, and a study of annual reports.
